How to Make & Freeze It

This easy to make basil pesto is better than anything you will purchase in a jar! You really can’t beat that homemade freshness! The best part? You can also freeze it to enjoy in the months ahead!

You will need: –basil –pine nuts – Parmesan – salt – garlic – lemon – olive oil equipment: a food processor

In the food processor, you add basil, pine nuts, garlic, Parmesan, salt and lemon juice. Pulse it until it resembles a coarse meal.

With the processor running, slowly begin to drizzle in olive oil until it is incorporated and the pesto is wonderfully creamy. That’s it!

Substitutions: -if you don't have pine nuts, use walnuts instead or sunflower seeds if you are nut free -you can omit nuts altogether for dietary restrictions -to make this pesto vegan, omit the Parmesan cheese or replace it with nutritional yeast

To Freeze Pesto: Make the pesto as directed in the recipe below and then scoop it into an ice cube tray. Freeze and then transfer the frozen pesto cubes into a freezer safe bag.
