Ingredients

  • 25 Oreo cookies About 1 package of regular or double stuffed Oreos. (Double stuffed Oreos work best for the bats)
  • 2 cups candy melts (To replicate my designs, I used 1/2 cup each of black, white, purple, and green melts)
  • 2 teaspoons coconut oil
  • Halloween sprinkles
  • candy eyeballs
  • Optional: granulated or coarse sugar

Instructions

  • Working with one colour at a time, add 1/2 cup of candy melts to a small bowl along with 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil. Melt according to the package directions.
  • Working with one Oreo at a time, dip them into the melted candy melts, flipping to ensure they are well coated.
  • Using a fork, gently scoop up the dipped Oreo and gently shake the excess coating (this will help smooth out the surface as well).
  • Lay the dipped Oreo onto a parchment lined baking sheet. Then decorate as desired using the sprinkles and candy eyeballs. [Note: see blog post above for decorating tips and step by step instructions.]
  • Let the cookies set (this takes about an hour).

To make the Monster design:

  • Simply dip the cookies in the green or purple candy melts. Arrange the eyeballs on each cookie and then sprinkle with the Halloween sprinkles.

To make the Mummies design:

  • Dip each cookie in the white candy melts. Arrange the eyeballs on each cookie.
  • Transfer the remaining melted candy melts to a piping bag and cut a very small portion of the tip. Make stripe designs to make it look like mummy wrapping (be careful not to pipe over the eyes).

To make the Bats design:

  • Note: Make sure you are using double stuff Oreos or else it will be difficult to stick the wings in place.
  • Using a few extra Oreos from the package, scrape off the filling inside the cookies. Then with each cookie portion, carefully snap it in half to make a set of wings. Use as many Oreo cookies as you need for the number of bats you are making. (I only used 20 cookies to allow for extra cookies to be used for the wings of the bats)
  • Dip the Oreo cookies in black candy melts. To each cookie, carefully insert the broken Oreo "wings" into the stuffing. [They double stuffed Oreos will hold them in place better.]
  • Lay the dipped Oreos onto a parchment lined baking sheet and arrange the candy eyeballs on each bat. If desired, sprinkle the bat bodies with granulated or coarse sugar.
