Ingredients

  • 1 bunch asparagus woody ends trimmed and discarded
  • 1 package thinly sliced prosciutto
  • olive oil to drizzle
  • black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Lay the asparagus out on a cutting board. Cut each prosciutto slice in half lengthwise. Wrap each asparagus spear in the prosciutto, wrapping it in a diagonal angle to ensure most of the spear is covered.
  • Drizzle the prosciutto wrapped asparagus with olive oil and sprinkle it with pepper.
  • Pan Fried Method: Drizzle a skillet or griddle with olive oil and heat it over medium heat. Add the prosciutto wrapped asparagus spears and cook them for a couple of minutes on each side, until the asparagus is tender and the prosciutto is crisped and brown.
  • Broil Method: Preheat the broiler on your oven on high. Arrange the prosciutto wrapped asparagus on a greased baking sheet and broil for a few minutes, keeping an eye on them as they can burn quickly. The asparagus is done when it is tender and the prosciutto is crisped and browned. Depending on how thick your asparagus is, this could take between 3-5 minutes.
