  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup apple sauce
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk of choice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 2/3 cups flour
  • 1 cup chocolate chips + 1/4 cup to sprinkle on top

  • Preheat oven to 350F and line a loaf pan with parchment paper. Ensure the parchment paper hangs over the side a bit so that you can grab onto it later to pull the loaf out of the pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix sugar, brown sugar, pumpkin puree, eggs, apple sauce, milk and vanilla extract.
  • To the wet ingredients, stir in the salt, pumpkin spice, cinnamon, baking soda and baking powder. Then add the flour and mix until it is all incorporated.
  • Next, add the chocolate chips and fold into the batter. Pour the batter into the loaf pan and sprinkle with additional chocolate chips.
  • Bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool for 5 minutes in the pan, then take hold of the overhanging parchment paper and carefully lift the pumpkin bread out of the pan and set onto a cooling rack. Let cool completely before slicing.
