  • 4 pears peeled
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1 star anise pod

Optional ingredients to serve:

  • sprinkle of cinnamon powder
  • a scoop of Vanilla Greek yogurt or frozen yogurt
  • drizzle of maple syrup or honey or caramel sauce
  • sprinkle of granola
  • sliced almonds

  • Peel pears and set aside.
  • Add the remaining ingredients to the slow cooker. Place the pears on their side.
  • Cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hour. Carefully remove the pears with tongs, grabbing from the stem so as not to squish the pear. Plate using the optional ingredients if desired.
