No need to pre-cook any ingredients for this delicious Slow Cooker Split Pea and Ham Soup. Just dump the ingredients in the slow cooker and come back to a healthy, flavorful meal!
2 1/2cupsdried yellow split peasor green split peas, rinsed and drained
2cupscooked hamor one ham bone with some meat on it
3ribscelerydiced
2mediumcarrotsdiced
1mediumoniondiced
1teaspoondried thyme
2bay leaves
1/8teaspoonblack pepper
5cupschicken broth
1cupwater
saltto taste
Instructions
Place the rinsed split peas, celery, carrots, onion, dried thyme, bay leaves, and pepper into the slow cooker.
Top with the broth and water and stir to combine everything.
Cover and cook on high for 4-5 hours or on low for 8 hours.
Discard the bay leaf and ham bone (if using). Taste and season with salt as needed.
