Air Fryer Asparagus

Make healthy, crispy parmesan flavoured asparagus right in your air fryer! This Air Fryer Asparagus recipe is easy to do and is ready in just 10 minutes! It’s keto-friendly too!

Asparagus makes the perfect side to a healthy dish. When they are cooked right, they are wonderfully flavourful and, in my opinion, often steal the show from whatever main dish you are serving them with.

Asparagus is easy to prepare and cook using multiple methods. Grilled, baked, sautéed, and, of course, air fried. I love all of these methods, but my current obsession is with my air fryer. It magically manages to get the asparagus nicely tender on the inside, yet crispy on the outside without any deep frying! Yes, thank you!

How to prep asparagus

Asparagus is easy to work with and so the prep time for this recipe is ridiculously low.

The first thing you need to do is wash your asparagus, of course. Be sure to pat the asparagus dry after this. Because I want the asparagus to crisp up in the air fryer, I try to remove as much water as possible to prevent any steaming.

Next, trim the woody ends off of your asparagus. To do this, I take hold of the end of one asparagus end and bend until it breaks off. You can do this with all of the asparagus, but I just use the one as a guide for where I should chop off the ends of the other spears.

That’s it! Your asparagus is ready to cook with at this point.

How to make Air Fryer Asparagus

To make this recipe, you will need:

  • 1 bundle asparagus, ends trimmed, washed and patted dry
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan
  • squeeze of lemon, optional

Preheat your air fryer to 400F.

Meanwhile, place trimmed asparagus in a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil. Toss to coat them evenly. Season with parmesan, salt and pepper. Transfer asparagus to the preheated air fryer.

Cook in air fryer for 7-8 minutes at 400F. Serve as is or with a squeeze of lemon.

Enjoy!
