This easy, delicious air fryer apple chips recipe is made without oil and only 2 ingredients! They make a quick, healthy snack in under 15 minutes!
For the longest time, I longed to buy an air fryer. I scrolled past so many mouthwatering recipes that I just needed to try! But alas, I had yet to get my hands on an air fryer. My hubby and I debated whether we needed yet another appliance for my kitchen for awhile before taking the plunge and making the purchase. I am so glad that we did!
I’ve spent a long time getting to know my new appliance. I’ve been busy cooking up recipes I have found on the internet. I have also made at least a third of the recipes from the recipe book in the packaging of my fryer.
One day, after deciding to snack on an apple, I decided on a whim to try to turn it into apple chips in my air fryer. I have made apple chips in the oven before, cooking them at a low temperature and so I figured it would work here too. It did!
It took a little trial and error determining cooking time and temperature. At last, though, I have landed on my new go-to apple snack recipe! It is super healthy, uses no oil at all, and is a nice break from eating a raw apple every day! Its nice to switch things up this way!
How to make Air Fryer Apple Chips
To make this recipe, you only need two ingredients! Yup, you read that right! There is no oil in this recipe at all! I tried this recipe with and without oil and found it didn’t actually need it at all. So I have left it out for a healthier snack!
You will need:
- 2 medium apples
- cinnamon, to sprinkle
Preheat the air fryer at 300F.
Meanwhile, slice washed apples carefully using a mandolin. Use can adjust to your desired thickness (mine are about 1/8″ thick). If seeds have not fallen away from the slices, poke them out using your fingers or the tip of a knife.
Once the air fryer is preheated, place the apple slices in the air fryer basket trying to overlap as little as possible. If using a small air fryer, you may want to cook them in batches.
Cook on 300F for 12-15 minutes*, flipping the apples every 5 minutes of cooking time. Transfer to a cooling rack for 5 minutes. The apple chips will feel a little soft when removed from the air fryer but they will crisp up a bit while cooling (though they will retain a chewy texture). Enjoy.
That’s it! I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do!
