This deliciously creamy spinach orzo pasta dish is packed with spinach! The sauce is flavoured with Parmesan and basil and made lighter by using milk instead of cream.

It requires a small number of ingredients and less than 30 minutes. Hardly any of that time is hands-on too!
This dish makes a great side dish, or fill up your bowl and call it dinner!
Ingredients in Creamy Spinach Orzo
- Orzo
- Butter
- Flour
- Milk
- Parmesan cheese
- Spinach
- Dried basil
- Salt and pepper
How to make Creamy Spinach Orzo
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook orzo according to package directions. Drain.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk together to create a roux. Next, add the milk and whisk until it begins to thicken. Add the Parmesan, basil and spinach and stir everything together until the spinach begins to wilt. Remove from heat.
- Mix sauce with orzo and serve with a sprinkle of additional Parmesan, if desired.
