I absolutely adore this recipe! A few years ago, my aunt made this dish for me and I fell completely in love with it! It turkey was so tender and flavourful, I just had to learn how to make it! My aunt came over the other day and we set out to recreate this delicious meal together! It was a fun evening in the kitchen and celebrating with these succulent drumsticks at the end was perfection!

These turkey drumsticks were so easy to make and required very little babysitting. Prep the meal, set it in your oven and the hard part is done! The oven does the rest, with only an occasional temperature adjustment. So darn easy and so impressive!

I made these roasted turkey legs and he was totally blown away with the flavour! Its perfect for a Sunday roast dinner or even a small-scale thanksgiving celebration!

How to make Roasted Turkey Drumsticks

To make these drumsticks, you will need:

  • 4 turkey drumsticks
  • 4 celery stalks, chopped into thirds
  • 2 onions, quartered
  • 1/2 tomato, chopped into large pieces
  • 4 carrots, cut in half
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 bay leafs
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons allspice (whole, not ground)
  • 4 cups water

Preheat oven at 375F. In a large roaster, place chopped celery, carrots, onions, and tomato. Place drumsticks on top and drizzle with the olive oil.

Add the cinnamon, bay leafs and allspice. Add 4 cups of water to the roaster and place the lid on. Roast in the oven at 375F for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, lower temperature to 350 and continue to roast for 1 hour and 20 minutes, removing the lid in the last 15 minutes.

Take temperature with a meat thermometer. If the turkey is cooked to an internal temperature of 180F and juices run clear, turn oven to broil for a few minutes to brown nicely.

That’s it! The cook time is a bit long on this recipe but rest assured it is well worth the wait! It’s also pretty passive cooking as you don’t need to stand around to watch it cook!

I hope you enjoy this recipe!

Bon appetit!
