You really can’t beat coming home to an amazing meal after a long day at work. This is up there with our favourite slow cooker meals. This incredibly easy, delicious recipe is full of flavour and requires minimal effort on your part! Simply add the ingredients to your slow cooker in the morning and walk away! Your meal is pretty much ready for you when you get home from work! How awesome is that?!

Any cut of meat that is cooked low and slow is bound to be delicious. Its just how it goes. And this pulled pork recipe is no exception. Aside from being yummy, I love it because it is so darn easy to do! No need to babysit it. No need to even be anywhere near it all day long.

I often pop the pork into the slow cooker in the morning and come home to a cooked meal. All that’s needed is to shred the pork and stir it back into the sauce in the slow cooker. Dinner is served!

The EASIEST pulled pork recipe

Okay, okay. I’ve mentioned more than once now how easy this is. But what do you actually need to do to make this a reality for you?

Any good pulled pork recipe starts with a great spice rub! So that is step 1.

What you’ll need for the spice rub:

  • paprika
  • brown sugar
  • chili powder
  • mustard powder
  • onion powder
  • cayenne pepper
  • salt
  • pepper

What to do:

The work needed to make this is minimal. I start by mixing all of the dry spices together and then rub it onto a my 4 lb pork shoulder.

To my slow cooker, I add the following to make the sauce:

  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup ketchup

Then I sit the pork shoulder on top of it. I cover the slow cooker and let it cook for 8 hours on low.

When I get home from work, all I do is remove the pork shoulder, discard any fatty pieces, and then use 2 forks to shred the meat. Once shredded, place it back in the slow cooker and mix it all up with the sauce. That is literally it.

I love to serve the pulled pork in buns with creamy coleslaw. It also works well in tacos too! And over nachos. And on pizza. I’m getting excited just thinking about the leftovers!

Hope you give this a try and enjoy it as much as we do!

Bon appetit!
