Make a delicious Dulce de leche Latte at home using just 3 ingredients. No need to wait in long lines at a coffee shop when you can make a perfect, creamy latte at home at a fraction of the cost, too!
There is no better way to start off your morning than a mug of coffee. And when that coffee is flavored with dulce de leche? You know that it’s going to be the best kind of day! This Dulce de Leche Latte recipe is one we love to break out for an extra special treat.
Lusciously creamy and with a little Latin flair, this decadent latte tastes like something you paid a small fortune for at a fancy cafe, but it is actually super easy to make at home. Just 3 ingredients are needed- espresso (or very strong brewed coffee), milk, and dulce de leche. And in just minutes you can have a coffee shop favorite without having to get out of your pajamas.

This dulce de leche latte is one of our favorite coffee treats, up there with other favorites like Cinnamon Dolce Latte, Nutella Latte, and Gingerbread Latte. Simple, decadent, and delicious.
Don’t worry if you do not have an espresso machine or milk frother -check out my “Latte without any special equipment” section below for tips on how to make this with items you have on hand.

Ingredients for Dulce de Leche Latte
- Dulce de leche: I use store-bought dulce de leche but it is easy to make some at home using a can of sweetened condensed milk (for tips on how to do this, Eagle Brand® has a recipe on their website explaining how to do this).
- Coffee: espresso or strongly brewed coffee. If you are using strongly brewed coffee instead of espresso, you may need to adjust the milk you use.
- Milk: Whole milk or 2% milk is ideal as it will give you a richer, creamier latte. That said, just as you can in your favorite coffee shop, you can easily substitute for skim milk or even plant-based milk alternative.
- Optional: whipped cream, for garnish.

How to make Dulce de Leche Latte at home
- Melt the dulce de leche in the espresso. Add 1-2 tablespoons of dulce de leche and the espresso/hot coffee to a mug. Stir together until the dulce de leche is melted.
- Froth milk. In a milk frother (or in a mug using a handheld milk frother), froth and heat the milk (if your frother does not warm the milk, warm the milk first on the stove top). Pour the frothed milk over the coffee and dulce de leche mixture.
- Optional garnish. Warm the dulce de leche in a microwave for a few seconds and then mix with a splash of milk Scoop or pipe the whipped cream on top of the latte and then drizzle with the warmed dulce de leche.

Latte without any special equipment
No need to fret if you don’t have a fancy espresso machine or a milk frother at home. It is still possible to make lattes at home without this equipment.
In the absence of an espresso machine, you can opt to replace the espresso with strong brewed coffee. Another option is to use instant espresso powder to make espresso.
In order to froth milk with a milk frother, you can place the milk in a saucepan and whisk it while it warms up. By continuously whisking, you can create some frothing (though it may not be as much as a frother, it get’s the job done).
