One of my favourite snacks to pick up at the grocery store was roasted chickpeas. I’m absolutely obsessed with them. Super crunchy, highly addictive and they come in so many flavours that my taste buds are always happy.

I used to buy them regularly as a healthy snack to curb my potato chip craving. I say used to because now that I have realized how easy they are to make at home, there is no need to buy them!

Making roasted chickpeas in the oven is incredibly easy to do at home and doesn’t require much of an effort at all!

This recipe for roasted chickpeas requires 5 minutes of your hands-on time. Yes, 5 minutes!

Oh, and no fancy equipment or complicated steps here either!

Why you should make this recipe for roasted chickpeas

  • it’s delicious!

  • this makes a healthy, nutritious snack

  • you avoid the preservatives in store-bought versions

  • you can change up the flavours to suit your own tastes

  • it takes only 5 minutes of hands-on time to make them!

Tips for making the best roasted chickpeas!

  • Switch up the flavours! I’ve included one of my favourite ways to season these roasted chickpeas in the recipe card, but I encourage you to play around with other seasonings! There are so many fun ways to dress these chickpeas up! Some of my favourites include using chili-lime seasoning, lemon-pepper seasoning, and spices like cayenne pepper.

  • Remove moisture before roasting. Moisture will keep your chickpeas from crisping up so its important that you pat them dry or allow them to air dry on some paper towel before you season them.

  • Spread those chickpeas out! Again, to avoid any steaming (aka moisture), be sure to spread out the chickpeas on your baking sheet to allow any steam to escape while they roast.

  • Enjoy these fresh! Homemade roasted chickpeas have a tendency to lose their crispness after awhile. For best results, make this snack and eat it soon afterwards.

  • Store the chickpeas at room temperature. If you are not using these immediately, place them in an air-tight container after they have cooled (if you store them while still warm, the steam in your container will soften them up).

  • These are not just for snacking! While I love to dig into a bowl of these to snack on, they also make great additions to salads! They add a nice crunch and make a great healthy substitution for croutons!
