Air Fryer Zucchini Fries make a fun dippable appetizer or healthy snack! They are super easy to whip up, have a wonderfully crispy exterior and can even be served up as a healthy side dish!
Our garden supply of zucchini is quickly filling up the fridge and I, for one, am excited to use up my supply in all sorts of tasty ways! Its probably thanks to the Mediterranean blood running through me, but I truly am obsessed with this vegetable and it is among my favorites of the season.
So far, this years garden haul has been transformed into a loaf of the most delicious Lemon Zucchini Bread. I have also made my first Zucchini Fritters though it will be far from the last batch! But today’s use of our summer squash haul is to transform it into a tasty snack in the form of these Air Fryer Zucchini Fries!
These are so easy to make and yet so delicious, especially when served up with a killer sauce for dipping! I used a siracha, mayo and Greek yogurt mix as my dipping sauce today. There are so many more dips that go well with these fries though including a delicious Tzatziki Sauce.
If you do not have an air fryer, I make a version of these zucchini fries in the oven. My Baked Parmesan Zucchini Fries are just as healthy because they are baked. But truly, the air fryer gets a level of crispiness that surpasses oven cooking and it is done in only a fraction of the time! You really can’t beat that!
How to cut your zucchini spears
Honestly, these are pretty easy to make and there is no one way to cut your zucchini. I like to make mine into spears about the same length as french fries but twice as thick. You can totally adjust this to your own preference and make them thinner or even slicing them into circular “chips”. If you do make them smaller, I would recommend taking a few minutes off of the cooking time as they will likely cook faster. Check on them at around 4-5 minutes and then cook longer if needed.
Ingredients in Air Fryer Zucchini Fries
- Zucchini: one medium zucchini or 2 smaller ones, cut into spears.
- Panko breadcrumbs: I love using panko for these because they add a nice crunch and texture to the coating.
- Flour: Regular all purpose flour.
- Parmesan cheese: Adds delicious flavor.
- Seasoning and herbs: paprika, onion powder, dry oregano, dry basil, salt and pepper.
- Egg: whisked. This will help the breading adhere to the zucchini. If you need this to be made egg free or even vegan (omit the Parmesan too if you want to make these vegan) you can substitute a vegan mayo or vegan yogurt.
- Spray cooking oil

What to serve with Air Fryer Zucchini Fries
I often make these as a healthy snack or appetizer so all that is needed is a nice dip to go along with it. Not necessary, but highly recommended. I mean, who doesn’t love a good dip??
Dip ideas to serve with these:
- Spicy mayo sauce (any kind will do- I did a mix of yogurt, mayo and hot sauce)
- Tzatziki Sauce
- ranch dressing
- marinara sauce
- a good mustard
Of course, these are only a few of my own favourites but you are in no way limited to these options.
While I often make these as a snack, you can totally serve them up as a healthy side dish for your main meal. They go with pretty much any protein you serve with your main dish. I’ve included some options below which I think go well.
- Greek Spanakopita Chicken Meatballs
- Air Fryer Shrimp
- Chicken Kofta Kebabs
- Baked Breaded Pork Chops
- Baked Parmesan Chicken Drumsticks
- Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Peach Glaze
How to store and reheat Air Fryer Zucchini Fries
While everything is best fresh, you can totally store leftovers and reheat them for future nibbles. To store them, once they are cooled, place them in an airtight container and store in the fridge. When you are ready to enjoy them again, put them back into the air fryer and heat them up for about 4 minutes or so, until they are heated through.
Placing them in the air fryer helps to crisp them up again, so do this over any other reheating method.
